I cannot say enough good things about this festival! This past weekend I was in Cortland for their annual Wine and Arts Festival. This event keeps getting bigger and better each year!
I have been doing this show for several years and back in the day it was my first outdoor show. The size and quality of vendors improve each year. This year there were a few awesome food trucks, free iced coffee from Tim Horton's, a giant tent for wine tastings from local wineries, two music tents for local talent and several artisans. This is also a juried show with several prizes for vendors!
My booth is on the far right. |
The weather was beautiful and I was assigned an excellent, highly visible spot. Although any spot is good because people park all around and walk everywhere!
I had an awesome day. I had old customers tell me they still have and use my pieces and brought friends with them to brag about my wares. So if you are looking for a day out or an artist interested in doing an outdoor show check this one out!
Show Specs:
Booth Fee-$ cheap, money goes to Cultural Council of Cortland, plus it's a juried show as well so you have a chance to win some of that money back.
Access ( how close can you get your car to your spot to unload)-right next to it. You may have to drive on sidewalks, squeeze by trees but it can be done!
Relief- As a solo artist working in hot weather, drinking lots of water and 17 weeks pregnant, bathroom breaks are essential. Cortland has always been amazing with this and sends volunteers around every hour or two for relief.
Attendance- With so many things to do this all in one event has a constant flow of traffic. The wine tent brings out an older crowd who enjoy local arts and music.
Food- If I hadn't packed a lunch, I would have pigged out at the food trucks. Pig-vicious and Chicken Bandit both carried some delicious looking meals. Tim Horton's had free coffee (right next to my booth). The local church offered free hot coffee to vendors until the show started too.
Overall my favorite show of the year! Looking forward to next year!
